Web Design & Development for the Reporters Shield Legal Defense Program

Client’s request was to create a business card website for an American legal defense program for journalists engaged in investigative reporting on individuals and organizations, with the option to submit an application for such protection. Also, ensure multilingual support.

The goal was to create a concise website with information about the program’s geographic coverage and program details.

The main challenge was to complete the website in time for the conference where the project was presented and applications were opened.

Design and development features

• Creating basic wireframes for preliminary viewing of the page structure and site navigation;
• Designing detailed layouts of all site pages in Figma;
• Implementing interactive prototypes to demonstrate functionality and user experience;
• Markup HTML for all main pages of the site and using CSS to style the main elements of the site;
• Ensuring the site is responsive for different screen sizes (mobile devices, tablets, desktops);
• Adding interactive elements using JavaScript;
• Developing a custom theme for the site using CMS WordPress and the WPML multilingual plugin;
• Using the Gutenberg editor to create and edit content blocks;
• Installing and configuring necessary plugins to enhance site functionality (ACF, SEO, security, caching).
